Fathers day is a special day for me. Despite being the poorer cousin to Mothering Sunday in the realm of commercial celebration days it is a day when our children, and those we care for and about can show kindness, and appreciation for those properties a father brings to a family. My family is what is gently called a blended family. Jane and I brought together two families, and in addition created our on special son who has become a boy doted on by his older siblings. This year has been especially special for me as my two stepchildren both bought me a gift each, and gave me cards with such lovely sentiments that it was impossible not to get a lump in my throat. I really do cherish all the children in our busy, strange family, and love them all dearly.
